Woman pleas no contest to charge of killing teen pedestrian
The 36-year-old driver, who hit and killed a 17-year-old pedestrian in Roscommon County, has pleaded no contest to her charge on Aug 18.
Heather Parks was charged with a moving violation causing death which is a misdemeanor. If convicted, Parks could have a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
The state police were told by Parks that she was reaching for a pack of cigarettes when she went off the road and hit the girl.
The 17-year-old pedestrian died four days after she was hit.
Parks is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 27.
