Three people were arrested after a fight that include an axe handle and a machete.

Three people were arrested after a fight that include an axe handle and a machete.

According to Michigan State Police, a woman arrived at her Lake Township home to find highly intoxicated people being disorderly in her yard.

After they refused to leave, she tried to chase them away with an axe handle. One of the drunk men knocked the woman to the ground, taking the axe handle from her, and threatened her with it.

State Police say a neighbor then shouted over the fence for the assault to stop, which provoked the suspect and two others to go over the fence and assault the neighbor, his young son and a friend.

During the assault at the neighbor's, the suspects brought the axe handle and a large machete.

After a struggle, which State Police say left non-life-threatening injuries, the three suspects fled the scene.

Two of the suspects were arrested at another home in Roscommon County. The other suspect was found hiding in the woods by a Houghton Lake State Police dog.

Two of the suspects were charged with felonious assault and the third was charged with simple assault.

      The case remains under investigation.
