Woman undergoes mental evaluation after leading authorities on high speed chase

A 56-year-old female was arrested for leading the authorities on a high speed chase in Cheboygan County on Wednesday night.
The Cheboygan County Sheriff's office received information about a vehicle that was running other cars off the road in Indian River.
According to the sheriff's office, a 56-year-old female from Alpena was driving a red Ford Mustang convertible traveling west on M-68 near I-75 to Alanson around 4:16 p.m.
A deputy intercepted the vehicle but the driver would not stop.
The driver then hit another vehicle in Conway before the female driver stopped on the shoulder of US-31 near Conway Rd. The driver left her vehicle and tried to walk away but shortly after was arrested.
The driver reached speeds up to 90 m.p.h. No one was injured during the chase.
According to the sheriff's office, the 56-year-old driver is being held in the Cheboygan County Jail. She will be undergoing a mental evaluation before her arraignment.
In 2011, the driver was also involved in another incident in Gaylord and was referred to a mental hospital.
