Woman who crashed into school bus while drunk pleads guilty
The woman who crashed into a Cheboygan school bus while drunk and driving away has pleaded guilty to the charges against her.
Susan Banister pleaded guilty Monday to her second offense of operating with a suspended license as well as operating with a high blood alcohol content.
Banister was arrested for her fifth drunk driving offense after crashing into a Cheboygan school bus and fleeing the scene in April at the intersection of East Main St. and South Straits Highway in Wolverine.
Police said after the crash, Banister got out of her car and started walking away from the scene. She then was picked up by another person and taken home.
Deputies later tracked her down and arrested her for operating while intoxicated. She was also driving without a license and had four previous drunk driving convictions on the record.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 6.
