The Oasis Family Resource Center in Wexford County is putting a $2,000 grant to use at their women's shelter.
The grant was given by the Huckle Family Fund through the Cadillac Area Community Foundation.
In the past year, the center created a â??Home Away From Homeâ?? project that helps with upgrades for the shelter. Resource Center Director Sally Repeck says they have several ways of putting the grant money to good use.
Repeck said they originally had no chairs in the bedrooms but are now able to add not only chairs, but alarm clocks and extra sand for the sandbox.
She said they have had all kinds of groups help the center, but this is really their ability to, â??cumulate it and make it look fabulous.â??In the past year, the shelter has provided more than 15,000 nights of shelter for women and children.
