Young girl hit riding bike in Petoskey, driver flees

A 10-year-old girl, riding her bike, was hit by a car while crossing an intersection with her friend on July 30th in Petoskey.
According to the Petoskey Department of Public Safety, witnesses saw a female driver pull over, get out and quickly look before she drove away.
The department is investigating this accident as a hit and run due to the driver briefly stopping at the scene and failing to call authorities.
The accident took place at the intersection of Emmet and E. Sheridan.
The Department of Public Safety says the car is described to be gold, silver, or yellow.
No injuries were reported, but the bike was damaged.
