11th annual ''Bikes for Tikes'' kicks off

You have the chance to help out northern Michigan children this holiday season by donating a gift that they can enjoy for years to come.

The 11th annual "Bikes for Tikes" program kicked off today - and this year, organizers are hoping for 400 bikes.

All shapes and sizes are accepted (regular bikes, tricycles, big wheels, scooters, etc.) - and will be assembled and distributed by volunteers throughout northwest Michigan.

Organizers say this is an opportunity to help kids who may not get a Christmas gift otherwise.

"It can be life changing. It can be the best present that they can possibly have, because it means far more than just a bike," said Mike Kent, representing Bill Marsh and Bikes for Tikes. "It means that they get to ride around the neighborhood, they get to be like all the other kids - and to put them in a new bike - that's a very very special gift."

New bikes can be dropped off at several places across the area through December 20th:

Radio stations 106KHQ and 104.5 Bob FM

Bill Marsh Dealerships - Bill Marsh Ford Kalkaska, Bill Marsh Buick/GMC, Bill Marsh Chrysler, Bill Marsh Hyundai
