12 Dogs rescued from a bad situation find loving homes
A special dog adoption event was held Sunday in Traverse City to find homes for more than a dozen Pomeranian dogs that were rescued from a Leelanau home.
About two weeks ago, Pine Cone Farm animal shelter in Leelanau County took 14 dogs from a home that had more than 40 Pomeranians on the property.
The dogs were in rough shape, some covered in fleas and worms. A volunteer group cleaned up the pups, and this weekend they were up for adoption at the in Traverse City where 12, of the 14 dogs found new homes.
"It's been terrific," said Pine Cone Farm owner, Linda Gottwald. "We've had so many people that have poured their hearts out. We've had donations, and pet food and the best thing is some of the older guys got homes which I was a little worried about. Some of the seniors getting homes and they all got homes."
Pine Cone Farm will be rescuing the remainder of the dogs in the next couple of weeks. After they are cleaned up and taken care of, they too will also be available for adoption.
Two male Pomeranians are currently available for adoption. If you are interested you can call Linda Gottwald to set up an appointment at 231-944-6520.
