Our station lost power around 1:30 this afternoon. The power was back up shortly after 3:00 p.m. but we are still having problems transmitting on the air.
Leelanau County emergency responders tell 7&4 News that the outage was caused by an accident at Meadow Dr. off of E. Lincoln in Elmwood Township.
Responders say a semi truck making deliveries in a small residential neighborhood clipped low power lines and got them tangled in the truck.
A spark from the downed lines caused a small grass fire at the scene.
On Consumer's Energy's website it shows that 1,700 residents in Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties are without power.
There is one change. Tonight's Red Cross phone bank has been rescheduled for a date later this month.
