A Northern Michigan castle fit for a captain

It's a boat lovers paradise. It's a romantic hideaway nestled in downtown Charlevoix. But the waterfalls outside don't compare to the water inside!

"It's just an amazing home that's timeless in design and has features that you don't see too often," says Cindy Anderson, Senior Associate Broker at Coldwell Banker in Traverse City. "It's spectacular as you'll see."

The price tag: a cool $7.95 million. It sits at 10,437 square feet with an attached boathouse, lake front decks, a four car, heated garage, three-story elevator, four fireplaces, two bars, and don't forget five decks -- and a heated driveway!

"The house has five bedrooms and 11 baths.... all the comforts of home you could hope for," says Anderson with a chuckle.

Andre Poineau built the Nantucket-style cruise ship on land from 2001 to 2003.

"It would take a typical person three years every day of their lives making decisions to build something like this," says Rik Lobenherz, Owner and Broker at Prudential Preferred Properties Network.

Featured on HGTV and Blue Magazine for its uniqueness and inspiring design, the feeling of being on a ship sways you from room to room. The sweet scent of Cypress, the crashing waves of Round lake... you could say it's the "Titanic" of all boathouses!

"This is not a sinking ship! Far From it," says Anderson.

"Round Lake connects Lake Charlevoix to Lake Michigan," says Lobenherz. "It's known as the best yachting harbor on the Great Lakes."

The main floor features two living rooms with a two-way fireplace, and a massive kitchen to inspire any chef, or guest.

"You can be in the kitchen cooking, watching the game, or sitting by the fire," says Anderson.

In the cook's hub: a sub-zero, full-sized fridge tucked beneath matching wood, complete with sparkling sinks.

"The kitchen is spectacular," says Anderson. "We've got amazing granite, which is well done and well placed with the cabinetry."

      And That's not all.

"Don't have enough kitchen? Guess What? There's more," says Anderson revealing the Butler's pantry.

The Butler's pantry brings another microwave and dishwasher, chilled wine cooler, and another full-sized fridge. But don't get too full yet, it's off to work off those calories in the workout room. Ready to relax? Pop in a movie in its private movie theater coated in leather! Now head upstairs for an afternoon nap in a sleigh bed fit for Santa Claus! And oh, that view. And If the sun's in your eyes no problem! One click, and it's nighttime.

When duty calls, it's your choice of 11 baths complete with nautical fixtures, sinks, and a urinal.

As a ship fit for a captain, it's got toys fit for anyone! A pool table, shuffle board, skee ball, pinball, and even toss a virtual golf ball! After play, no need to flag the bartender, have a seat in your very own furnished bar.

"That one is an old pub-style bar," says Anderson. "It's just beautiful. It's outfitted with intricate woodwork, lined with copper with views of the lake that are just amazing."

And now, the heart of the home: the boathouse.

"It has just an incredible boathouse that was built by someone who knew what they were doing," says Lobenherz. "You really have to go through it and see it to understand the uniqueness of this property."

"To be able to pull right in and come in and have a cocktail, it's quite intriguing," says Anderson.

Furnished with cypress wood, the sweet smell radiates with the cool, fresh water and slight breeze. And the feeling of being on a boat doesn't stop there. There's a heated woodshop to tend to the 30 boats able to fit inside.

Ceiling to deck to water -- even outside, take a dip in a floating hot tub before you hit the waves.

"You can get out to Lake Michigan right out your front yard," says Anderson. "You can walk to town and have dinner, which is exceptional."

This cruise ship may be a little out of our price range... But we can all dream, right?
