Acme Township Board moving forward with removal of historical house
The Acme Township Board met Tuesday night and is moving forward with the removal of the Hoxsie House.
Currently, Acme Township is taking bids for demolition costs.
Township leaders are meeting with the Metro Fire Department on Wednesday to tell the department they have permission to use the house for training purposes before it is demolished.
The house must be down by Oct. 1.
The Hoxsie House was built in 1875 and needs to be removed from its current location off of US 31 for the shoreline project.
For almost two years, the community was fundraising to move the house to a piece of donated land and turn it into a museum.
A contractor did point out some structural damage that would cost too much to repair.
