'Alarming message' online puts Inland Lakes Schools into lockdown
Inland Lakes Public Schools are in lockdown after officials got reports that an "alarming message" was posted online.
According to Superintendent Fred Osborn, the local crime stoppers line was alerted to what was called an "alarming message" posted on the website 4chan.org, a comment forum.
The school went into a precautionary lockdown around 10:15 a.m. and will continue through the school day.
Sheriff's deputies and police are searching the website for the message, but have yet to find it. Osborn says the school is in lockdown to ensure students safety while the authorities look into the potential threat. He would not say whether it was related to harming students.
Inland Lakes has also cancelled all after-school activities.
