Annual Love Light Celebration remembers loved ones who have passed away

Candles lit for the Munson Hospice Love Light Celebration ceremony.

The 18th annual Munson Hospice Love Light Celebration provided a solemn rememberance Sunday for loved ones who have passed away.

The ceremony featured a candle-lighting ceremony and quiet reflection, as well as thoughts from Rev. Homer Nye, a former pastor at Presbyterian Church in Traverse City. The event is close to Rev. Nye's heart, as he lost his wife, who went through hospice care, 13 years ago.

There was no admission cost for the ceremony, but Munson Hospice, which seeks to provide help and comfort to the seriously or terminally ill, was accepting donations.

The Munson Community Health Center's Urgent Care lobby will house the Love Light Tree through December and January, while three additional Love Light Trees will be on the Munson Medical Center's lawn in front of the main entrance.
