Microbreweries are popping up everywhere and this weekend Northern Michigan added another one to the list.
After over a year of planning and building, the Stormcloud Brewing Company in Frankfort had its grand opening on Friday.
All weekend there were hundreds of people coming through the doors to check out the newest business on Main Street. The brewery features a full production room, outdoor patio, and a pub where folks can grab a bite to eat, or one of their 15 beers they have on tap.
Owners say they couldn't be happier with the weekend's turn out and the growing popularity of Northern Michigan breweries.
"The craft beer industry in Northern Michigan is just really exploding and it is exploding across the country and the fact that Michigan is now the number 5 state in terms of breweries open, certainly we can see some continued expansion and hopefully get to the level that the wineries are today," said Co-Owner, Rick Schmitt.
"We're hoping to make as good a beer as every other Northern Michigan brewery," said Co-Owner/Head Brewer, Brian Confer. "It's just an amazing beer scene up here. The nitch we're trying to hit is Belgium focused beers."
