Changing scenery at Cherry Capital Airport: See the old traffic control tower come down

The new tower , shown in the picture, is much taller at 150-feet, which enables the air traffic controllers to see clearly with no blind spots on the airport.

The old air traffic control tower at Cherry Capital Airport came crashing down Friday.

The demolition of the 80-foot tower took place around 8 a.m. and you can check out the changing scenery as it happened. The video was taken from the new air traffic control tower, which has been in use for a couple of years.

The old tower was built in 1975 and had a 20-year life expectancy.

The new tower is much taller at 150-feet, which enables the air traffic controllers to see clearly with no blind spots on the airport.

The new tower also has a new 8,000 square-foot base building which is shared by tech operators and air-traffic personnel.
