Cheers! ReVibe that old TV stand to hold beer

In this week's Upnorthlive ReVibe, Dan and Denine are taking an old, clunky entertainment center and turning it into a country club chic bar!

Denine Dingeman, designer at Charitable Resale, shares her inspiration and teaches you to affordably style with ease! She's teaming up with Dan Brady, "tricks-of-the-trade" painter at Dan Brady Painting and Wood Restoration. He brings you time-saving tricks and products that are easy to find and use.

"No one feels there's anything chic about a clunky, old entertainment center," said Denine. "However, you may be surprised! Remove the shelves, use a few of Dan's tricks and products to bring life into the wood, and get creative with a mirror and hanging lighting."

4 Steps to ReVibe a country club chic bar: "There are ways to clean and ReVibe wood in a few easy steps," said Dan. "Products today make it so easy!"

      1. Confirm the cabinet/entertainment center is solid without shelves, and confirm dimensions to house a mini fridge.

"The space is perfect for a bar, and the depth fits a mini fridge with some storage area to spare," said Denine. "The fact that it's a dated piece-turned-chic adds even more charm! And what's not to love about a cold beverage at your fingertips?"

      2. Remove shelves and add mirror and lighting: "You may choose to keep cabinet doors attached, however, the mirror opens up the space and may make the bar seem smaller in the room," said Denine. "The addition of a hanging light fixture is simple for an entertainment center since the holes are already created for electronics wiring, and lamp cords may easily be hidden behind the mirror."

      3. Enhance wood surfaces: Dan's tricks and products can make your bar seem like new in a few easy steps!

Make sure you ask your friends at Northwood Paint or your favorite DIY store about the latest products and their application process.

Dan's trick of the day: Apply "Old English Scratch Cover" with a cloth to bring out the luster of wood grain. Scratches virtually disappear, and you'll be amazed at the rich variations within your wood grain. To protect a surface and enhance wood tones, brush on Minwax PolyShades as indicated in the instructions, and don't over-apply if you're feeling ambitious.

      4. Fit your fridge: The final step to load and stock your mini fridge is simple, since once again, wiring may be hidden through the outlet areas in an old entertainment center. Final touches include addition of racks for hanging stemware, clocks or artwork on the interior walls of your bar to ReVibe with personality and country club chic style!
