Chef Phil likes his shrimp infused with spirits!

Chef Phil Murray from Phil's on Front in Traverse City is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8.

Asked to cook in a kitchen in the middle of Honduras, Phil used only what was available in the kitchen... And his delicious recipe for Shrimp La Esperanza was born.

"I looked in the kitchen and I found some shrimp, I found some limes, and I found some tequila," says Phil. "I had to cook for 35 people in a Third World country, and I'm thinking, 'I'm going to poison everybody!'"

This week Phil is sharing his delicious Shrimp La Esperanza recipe:

8-10 Jumbo shrimp

2 Shots of tequila

2 Limes, cut in half lengthwise and sliced thinly

1 Tsp. Cracked black pepper

1 Tbl. Olive oil

Serves 2-4 guests

Cooking Directions:

Marinate shrimp in one shot of tequila for an hour. Heat a 10-inch saute pan, add olive oil, shrimp, lime and cracked black pepper. Saute until opaque (approximately 2-3 minutes). Add remaining tequila and let flame.

"Once the flame dies down, the shrimp will be cooked because the tequila gives a really high heat," says Phil. "You can make some rice to go with it, or some noodles."
