Northern Michigan's largest festival will be two days shorter than originally planned.
Festival organizers say they've found a way to tighten up the 2014 festival season to maximize public access to Traverse City parks.
The National Cherry Festival will take place July 5-12 with a special Independence Day celebration on the 4th of July.
Many of the Festival's events take place at the Open Space Park.
On May 5th, City Commissioners approved an agreement with the National Cherry Festival that allowed the Festival usage of the Open Space Park Sunday, June 29 through Tuesday, July 15.
After taking a closer look at the schedule organizers decided to concede June 29 and July 15 back to the City in hopes that the public will take advantage of the park during the summer season.
The days that were dropped were for extra set-up and tear-down time.
