Community meeting focuses on school bond

Northern Michigan's largest school district is holding a community meeting Tuesday evening to spread the word on a $100 million bond proposal.
Traverse City Area Public Schools is asking voters on Nov. 6 to approve a millage increase to pay for renovations to several school buildings, improve technology, and replace some buses. The bond proposal includes reconstruction for Eastern Elementary, Interlochen Community, Glenn Loomis Montessori and Central Grade School. To see a year by year plan of projects click here.
The millage rate levied by TCAPS is projected to go to 3.9 from 3.1, which is a .8 mill increase. This increase will cost the owner of a home with a market value of $200,000 less than $80 per year, or about $6.70 per month.
