County needs community help to keep the Wex open

The Wexford County Commissioners are turning to the community to find ways to keep the Wexford Civic Center "The Wex" operating.
The hockey and ice skating programs bring in $200,000 per year in funds, but the center still operates at a $100,000 per year deficit.
The county has its own budget constraints and is now asking community members what ideas they have to find more cost effective solutions in an effort to keep the center open long-term.
A millage renewal was turned down by voters last November.
Also last night, the public weighed in on a proposal to add two additional board members to the Wexford County Road Commission.
The majority of people in attendance were opposed to the plan. The issue will not move forward at this time.
