Easing stress with four legs and a leash

There's a remedy for college students looking to ease stress before final exams in Kalamazoo: four legs and a leash.

A fraternity at Western Michigan University is offering students a chance to spend time with puppies Monday. They can walk a dog or just play around in the grass. The cost is $7 for 30 minutes.

It's the largest campus fundraiser for Phi Sigma Pi, an honors fraternity for men and women. The group splits the money with SPCA of Southwest Michigan, a rescue-and-adoption agency.

Vicki Harris of the pet center said that many students become volunteers at the center after meeting the dogs.

Harris says the dogs have fun, too. After all, it's a day out of the kennel.
