The Traverse City Planning Commissions meeting was an emotional one last night.
Some supporters of a wet house plan, including a local police sergeant got choked up, begging for someone to take the lead in helping the area's homeless.
The meeting last night was a chance for planners of the wet house to try and gather support for their project.
The goal of the project is to open a shelter that will allow homeless alcoholics to stay there and still be able to drink. Opponents think the shelter would promote drunken behavior, but supporters say it will save lives.
One possible location for the facility is the old County Work Release building, which is next to the County Jail. The building is currently empty, but the Sheriff says it may need to be used for jail overflow in the future.
No decisions were made last night about the project.
