Elk Rapids kicked off it's annual tradition of "Evenings on River Street" Wednesday night - and the heat and humidity didn't keep the crowds away.
Hundreds came out for this summer's first "Evening on River Street".
Featuring a different band each week, Wednesday night's music was provided by the bluegrass group "The Lost Hitch Hikers."
The night includes plenty of food, face painting, all different kinds of games, and tours of fire trucks and ambulances by local emergency personnel.
"It's a small town but a great community," said Dawn Bachi-Reffitt, an Elk Rapids Ambulance EMT. "There's a lot of fun things going on- it's a friendly town. Everybody's very personable, friendly. Seeing everybody working with the community, and being able to give back to the community, and be there to help them is whats really the best."
"Evening on River Street" is from 6pm to 9pm every Wednesday.
