The Father Fred Foundation is asking northern Michigan to think of the foundation as you do your spring cleaning, as it is seeking donations for its Spring Garage Sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 10th.
Father Fred is asking for just about anything deemed "garage sale worthy." This includes new and gently-used toys, art, antiques, sporting goods, housewares, small appliances, clothing, jewelry, collectables, movies, and music, as well as furniture in good to great condition.
Joan O'Neill, The Father Fred Foundation Communications Manager, says that all item donations will help raise money for a good cause.
"Usually during our Spring Garage Sale we can make up to $35,000, which is a good fundraiser for us," said O'Neill. "And this money goes toward the financial aid we provide our clients; this winter, alone, we provided $45,000 worth of heating assistance to our guests. It also goes toward helping us purchase additional items for our food pantry, which we spend over $185,000 on food purchases each year."
Donations may be dropped off at Father Fred, located at 826 Hastings St. in Traverse City. With the exception of furniture, donations will be accepted through Friday, April 25th; furniture will be accepted through Friday, May 9th.
