Nearly 200 former employees from Traverse City Iron Works got together Sunday in Maple City for a special reunion.
The Iron Works plant closed it's doors back in 1983 so it had been nearly 30 years since this group of former coworkers had seen each other.
The employees and their families gathered at St. Rita's Parish Hall to mingle, share memories, and catch up with old friends. There was Polka music for everyone to enjoy as well as old pictures on display of the workers.
Organizers say that it was a long process planning the big reunion, but that it was all worth it in the end.
"Just says how close a bunch of guys can be," said event organizer Rich Hounsel. "We've got people that worked 30 years so we're all here to come and see each other."
Hounsel says that 92 Traverse City Iron Works employees have passed away since the plant closed.
