This Friday, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day which puts a focus on understanding Down Syndrome.
The Down Syndrome Association of Northwest Michigan will be hosting two events Friday to educate the public and also to just chat and interact with people who want to learn more or who have friends or family members with Down Syndrome. The first event Friday is a bake sale that will be held in Traverse City from 9-11 a.m. at the Village at Bay Ridge (Off of Silver Lake Rd.). All proceeds from the sale will go to the Down Syndrome Association of Northwest Michigan.
Moomer's Ice Cream near Traverse City is also participating from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday. 10% of all proceeds will be given to the Down Syndrome Association of Northwest Michigan. The association works to educate the public here in Northern Michigan about Down Syndrome and helps individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Down Syndrome. They offer encouragement, hope, and acceptance through education and advocacy.
If you are in the area, please stop by to support this great cause and get some ice cream in the process!
