Giving JAR Scholarship benefits local students
Tue, 06 Aug 2013 13:38:16 GMT —
The 2nd Annual Giving JAR Charity Golf Tournament will be held August 15th to continue to support the scholarship for local students. The scholarship is in memory of James Allen Raymond who spent 30 years as a teacher and coach. His sons set up the Giving JAR Scholarship in memory of him, to help continue the positive impact that he had on hundreds of kids during his time as a coach. The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors from high schools in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau Counties who plan on attending college with a goal of becoming teachers, coaches, or ultimately giving back to youth within the communities they live in.
The 4 recipiants for 2013 have already been announced but organizers hope to expand the scholarship and be able to award more scholarships to more students each year. See the full video for more history on the formation of the scholarship.
The golf outing is August 15th at the Crystal Lake Golf Club in Beulah with a noon check-in and a 1 PM shotgun start four-person scramble format
