The Father Fred Foundation is in critical need of volunteers who can lift heavy donated items as it continues to offer help to those in need across Northern Michigan.

The Father Fred Foundation is in critical need of volunteers who can lift heavy donated items as it continues to offer help to those in need across Northern Michigan.

Each week, Father Fred receives donated furniture such as couches, dressers, chairs and tables. The organization in turn provides the items free-of-charge to families in need within a five-county area. In order to continue this services, Father Fred is asking for volunteers who can lift more than 50 pounds.

Volunteers at the Father Fred Foundation work a four-hour shift one day a week. If you are interested in helping, contact Sue Bauer at 231-947-2055 or email sbauer@fatherfred.org.

The Father Fred Foundation provides food, clothing, household goods and financial assistance to families and individuals in crisis who live in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau counties.

The work is carried out by the efforts of a small staff and more than 160 volunteers.
