High school senior celebrates 13 years of perfect attendance
Itâ??s quite the accomplishment; an 18 year-old Charlevoix High School senior has never missed a day of school in his entire life.
When Isaac Klooster walks across the graduation stage Friday, the 18 year-old Charlevoix High School senior will have never missed a day of school since kindergarten, which equates to more than 2,300 days, over 13 years.
Klooster says he didn't start his elementary school years striving to never miss a day of school, it just happened that way. Isaac Klooster says,"I feel relaxed that I accomplished it... just proud!"
Charlevoix High School Principal Susan Klinger says in her 20 years working in education, she's never seen a student accomplish this. But this 18-year-old didn't start his elementary school years striving to never miss a day, it just happened that way. Isaac Klooster explains, â??I probably noticed when I first started high school, I was like wow this is pretty sweet, I can do this. I have four more years left and I think I can do it..."
Klooser credits his strong immune system for helping him achieve this personal goal.
Isaacâ??s Mother Judy Klooster says, â??It wasn't that he was never sick, he just happened to get sick on weekends, it was just amazing."
Isaac Klooster even opted to skip â??senior skip dayâ?? this year. And as if 13 years of perfect attendance isn't enough, Klooster plans to keep this streak alive and strong, when he starts college next fall at Northwestern Michigan College.
