Historic fire truck to get face-lift
A piece of Traverse City history is getting a facelift.
The 1948 American La-France fire truck, that served in Traverse City from 1948 to 1980, was purchased online by the Traverse City Firefighter's Association.
The truck cost the group $7000 and will be restored and used for parades and special events.
"We just wanted to bring it home and utilize it for our community," said Steve Ball, of the Traverse City Fire Department. "Our hope is to restore it - maybe get some support for that - and keep it in Traverse City for a long time.
The truck still has original equipment onboard including it's original 100-foot ladder.
