Humane Society raising funds for new building
The Charlevoix Area Humane Society is hoping to open a new building to better serve the animals of Northern Michigan.
The Executive Director of the Humane Society tells 7&4 News that the new shelter will have more housing options so the shelter can take in more animals.
The building will be more than 8000 square-feet with space for the shelter and a boarding facility.
There will be a new pole barn behind the shelter that will allow animals to get exercise outside and go through agility training.
A space for the new building has been donated to the Humane Society and now the next step is fundraising.
Staff members hope to have enough money to start construction by the end of this year.
