Hundreds of cancer survivors celebrate life, laughter and love
More than 200 cancer survivors and their families met on the lawn of Building 50 near Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, for the 26th annual National Cancer Survivors' Day celebration picnic on Sunday.
It was a day filled with smiles and story telling between friends, and strangers of all ages, who all share one thing in common; their determination to beat the odds.
"Today is an opportunity for cancer survivors to connect with other cancer survivors to share, and acknowledge wonderful milestones throughout their cancer journey as well as acknowledge the people who have helped them along the way," said Munson Oncology Patient Educator, Laurie Patrick.
Munson Medical Center Cancer Services and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society sponsored the free event, that featured food, activities, music, and massages for the cancer survivors, friends, and family members.
