Kingsley Area Schools privatize food services, lay off 11 people
Pink slips went out today for 11 employees of Kingsley Area Schools.
The schools will be privatizing its food services, causing lay offs.
Earlier in the year, the district out-sourced custodial services and bus drivers as it looked to off-set a huge deficit due to a decrease in state funding and a drop in student enrollment.
Superintendent Keith Smith says Chartwells will take over food services, a move that will save the district $70,000.
