      Machete used in NMC assault

The Traverse City police department has released new details regarding an assault on Northwestern Michigan College's campus last Friday.

The Traverse City police department has released new details regarding an assault on Northwestern Michigan College's campus Friday, January 31.

Police say the victim was confronted by 3 suspects. One hit the victim over the head with a machete, a different suspect stabbed the victim in the left arm, and a third stabbed him in the back. Police believe they have located 1 of the 3 different weapons used.

The victim was taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment and was then released on Wednesday. The same victim was also arrested on Wednesday by Traverse City police for drug charges.

Police believe the victim was set up by the 3 suspects because they knew the victim was selling drugs. Authorities say they believe the suspects had planned on stealing the drugs and selling them for their own profit.
