Over the next two days, 13 girls will be competing for the chance to become the National Cherry Queen.
On Thursday and Friday of this week, the thirteen candidates will participate in a series of four judged interviews and a presentation about the cherry industry.
Judges will be assessing each candidate during the process and giving them points. The four candidates with the most points at the end of the weekend will receive a $1,000 scholarship, a festival wardrobe provided by Younkers, and will advance to the competition during Cherry Festival Week.
During the festival week, a secret panel of judges will assess the candidates as they serve as the Cherry Festival court. The Queen and first runner up will be announced at the Queen's Coronation Ball. The Queen will receive a $8250 scholarship to the school of her choice.
You can buy tickets for the Selection Ceremony on the Cherry Festival website.
The National Cherry Festival starts on June 29 and runs through July 6.
