Memorial honors fallen community heroes
Dozens gathered in the Cadillac City Park Saturday morning for the unveiling of a new memorial.
The memorial is dedicated to all public safety personnel from Wexford County who have died in the line of duty, while on duty or while actively serving.
The ceremony brought out Cadillac's mayor, police chief and fire chief to the park to speak to the community.
Some of sponsors of the memorial stone were at the ceremony and say the dedication, being so close to Veteran's Day, makes it that much more special.
â??It just exemplifies the spirit of service that President Kennedy, in his inaugural address, delivered, that it's not what government can do for you, but what you can do for this country. All of this fits together; it connects. And it's very, very special to have it right at this moment leading up to Veteran's Day,â?? said Robert Eggle, Memorial Sponsor.
The memorial is also close to Eggleâ??s heart because his son, Kristopher Eggle, is commemorated on the memorial.
