The plan to create a place for treatment and recovery for those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is taking a new path in Traverse City.
Board members for the Ryan Patrick Kennedy House have decided the Traverse City facility will now be named "Tranquility House".
Ryan Patrick Kennedy was from the Chicago area and lost his battle with PTSD on August 2, 2012.
As the plan developed for the Ryan Patrick Kennedy House in Traverse City, it became apparent there was mounting support in Kennedy's hometown to also open a PTSD wellness center in his name. Board members, which included Kennedy's family, decided to create separate charities in this new mission.
As a result of increasing support, there will soon be two facilities to help those suffering the effects of PTSD. One of the facilities will be named The Ryan Patrick Kennedy House to focus on the needs in the Chicago area, the other center will be Tranquility House in Traverse City.
