Paddling for Pints proves huge hit in Traverse City

Whether it was by canoe, kayak, or paddle board, those who participated paraded down the Boardman River to five different breweries, sampling some cold beers from each.

On Saturday, 100 paddlers took to the Boardman River in search of some fun in the sun, and a few Michigan brews to go along with it.

Hosted by Traverse City Ale Trail, the first ever Paddling for Pints event in Traverse City kicked off at Hull Park and ended at the Open Space. Whether it was by canoe, kayak, or paddle board, those who participated paraded down the Boardman River to five different breweries, sampling some cold beers from each.

"I think the Boardman River is very under utilized here in Traverse City and has a lot of opportunity and I would like to create a lot more events that use the river," said organizer, Troy Daily.

With the success of the 2013 Paddling for Pints, Daily hopes to make it an annual event.
