      A lot of hunters in northern Michigan like to take their dog along with them for a hunt. Though great companions, when dogs are out hunting there are still things to remember about their well being. Dr. Jen Klabunde from Northwood Animal Hospital has tips on what to watch for in your pet and also how to properly prepare your dog for hunting.

      Be sure to watch for:

      -Ticks/burs-Quills-Broken claws-Cut pads-Cuts and scrapes on body How to best prepare your pet for hunting: -Trim nails short-Keep up to date on heartworm/flea/intestinal worm medications-Have your pet wear brightly colored protective vests-Bring a first aid kit
