Petoskey Citizens Public Safety Academy enrolling new officers
The Petoskey Public Safety Department is offering adults in Northern Michigan an opportunity to learn more about what itâ??s like to be a Public Safety Officer.
The Petoskey Public Safety Department is starting their fifth annual Citizen's Academy.
Petoskey Public Safety Director John Calabrese said graduates from the seven-week program will not become public safety officers, but they will get to have fun learning more about what an officer goes through everyday.
â??The people that go through it all enjoy it,â?? said Calabrese. â??They have a really good time. Our officers have a great time doing it. We have a good time interacting with the public. And, it's good time and a good way to spend a few hours on a Wednesday evening.â??
The academy is free and open to any adults that agree to a background check.
Classes will be every Wednesday Sept. 17 to Oct. 29 from 6:30 â?? 9:30 p.m.
