Phil gets cheesy with his new iPhone app

We know Chef Phil Murray from Phil's on Front in Traverse City is up to something. He has a cheesy potato recipe waiting in the kitchen, but he didn't complete it all on his own! Apparently, Phil had a little help with a new app on his phone. So Phil is not just an amazing cook, he's also a technological genius, too?

"Today we're going to do some technology cooking," said Phil. "I've been able to transform my iPhone into a cooking instrument."

Phil is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8 at 6:30 p.m.

This week Phil is making some cheesy potatoes with the help of his "Philly App."

"What I do is I push it on, and many of you have seen the commercial for Siri," said Phil. "Well, there's another app called, 'phil.'"

"So I call up and I say, 'Philly, I need to make a potato and I need all of the equipment... So please deliver. Thank you,'" said Phil. "Now the Philly App has delivered my little, new technology: potato cutting machine."

Here's Phil's cheesy potato recipe:

Potatoes (and potato cutter/slicer)

Fresh cream

Grated cheese

Cooking Directions:

Take a peeled potato and place in cutter/slicer. Once sliced, place onto plate. Add cream and cover potato. Sprinkle grated cheese over potato, covering it. Bake in oven for 30 minutes at 325 degrees.

"I'd like to thank my iPhone and all of the other technological advances in cooking," said Phil. "Bon Appetite!"

If you can't wait until next week, stop in at Phil's On Front in downtown Traverse City. Phil's on Front is located at 236 East Front Street.
