Phil's surfin' 'n turfin' with sherry

"I like doing this because food brings people together," said Chef Phil Murray, Owner of Phil's on Front in Traverse City. "Families and friends... It's important to have a meal together."

Phil is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8 at 6:30 p.m.

This week Phil is sharing his Calamari Steak with Andouille and Orzo recipe:


1 3-4 oz. Calamari steak

4 oz. Sliced Andouille sausage

3 oz. Cooked orzo pasta

1 tbl. Olive oil

2 oz. Sherry

Salt and pepper to taste

"This calamari dish is a one-pan thing," said Phil."It cooks pretty fast."

Cooking Directions:

Get a 10-inch saute pan hot. Season calamari steak with salt and pepper. Sear calamari steak for one minute on each side, then add sausage and orzo. Add sherry, then simmer for one minute.

"Shake it up like you're making popcorn," said Phil.

Place on plate and serve.

"It's a one-minute meal, nice and tasty," said Phil. "Boom... There we go!"
