To help celebrate the first official weekend of fall, community members were invited out to a new festival on the farm in Kalkaska.
For the first year, Strawberry Fields Farm Market has transformed their farm into a one stop shop for all things fall and Halloween related. Parents and children were invited out to celebrate the season with lots of activities that included a pumpkin patch, bounce house, petting zoo, a 130-acre hay ride, and lots of tasty homemade fall treats.
"Bring the kids out, start a family tradition," said owner, Bill Jaynes. "Something that we felt that there's not a lot involved in this area. There's no places for the families to go with the children that's affordable and it's close. Everything's a long ways away. With fuel prices we thought, 'Well let's do something in our community.'"
Fall Festival Weekends will run every weekend through October. Organizers report that 10% of all proceeds made on September 28th and 29th will go to the local Special Olympics chapter.
