The Blue Angels fly into town
If you heard a roar rip through the sky Wednesday - that's right - the blue angels are back in town!
The Blue Angels flew in Wednesday afternoon from Pensacola, Florida. The flight only took them a couple of hours - complete with an in-air fuel-up over Tennessee.
Back for the first time in four years for the National Cherry Festival, the Blue Angels will perform air shows this weekend - performing spectacular maneuvers and reaching speeds around 700 miles per hour.
â??We're excited!â?? said Lieutenant Commander Nate Barton of the Blue Angels. â??For one, it's nice to be in a little bit cooler air. We came from Pensacola where it's very warm and humid so it's nice to be in this weather. The scenery around here is beautiful, it's unlike anywhere else in the country so, we're excited about that. I've heard the flying, the show, here is very fun to fly - I've heard it's very challenging with the wind but it'll be very fun for us.â??
The Blue Angels will practice over West Bay on the Fourth of July, and the actual air shows are both July 5 and 6.
