The search for a new city manager continued Saturday in Traverse City.
City Commissioners gathered at the Governmental Center Saturday morning for a special meeting, to interview the remaining six candidates for the position.
Traverse City Mayor, Michael Estes, joined the group, listening to the interviews that lasted until 4 p.m..
Mayor Estes says that choosing the new city manager is a long process, but it's an important one that takes a lot of consideration.
"They want to see how these people will interview but also see how they're going to react to the public in the future," said Mayor Estes. "And they're discussion is one way that we can sort of test that. How they will deal with questions from the public because that's an important function of a city manager."
Mayor Estes told 7&4 News that they were hoping to choose a new city manager by the end of today's interviews, but that it isn't set in stone yet. The new manager will official take over at the end of June, when the current manager, Ben Bifoss retires.
