Traverse City was selected as a top retirement destination by Where to Retire, a magazine geared towards helping people make retirement decisions.
The city will be profiled in the May/June issue, which is available on April 15.
Editor Annette Fuller said Traverse City has all the makings of a city perfect for today's retirees.
"Traverse City is the heart of scenic waterfront and grape-growing region that has been called Napa of the North, where local food, wine and beer have become art forms," Fuller said. "The charming downtown features tree-lined sidewalks and more than 100 specialty shops.
A four-season climate allows for a variety of activities year-fund, from kayaking in the lake and taking in one of the many outdoor festivals in the summer to snowshoeing in the winter."
The magazine says 700,000 Americans relocate to retire each year, bringing significant economic benefits to their new homes.
