LINCOLN, Neb. (KPTM) - A California man was arrested Tuesday after Lancaster County sheriff’s deputies say they found marijuana in a large teddy bear during a traffic stop on Interstate-80.

Sheriff Terry Wagner says deputies saw the bear in the car but noticed he smelled like more than honey and decided to cut him open. That's when he says they found the pot.

Leon Chesney Sr., 49, was booked for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

The teddy bear is "in custody for having four pounds of marijuana concealed within," Wagner said in jest.

He says they staged the photo of the bear in handcuffs due to the humorous nature of the crime.

The traffic stop took place at around 1:15 p.m. near Mile Marker 394.
