Benishek urges White House to fix map omitting U.P.
Congressman Dan Benishek, MI-1, is urging the White House and President Obama to fix a map on the White House website that does not include the Upper Peninsula.
The map illustrates states that have expanded Medicaid coverage versus those who "refuse" to expand the coverage.
"Considering President Obama visited the U.P. only a few years ago, you would think he would remember to include it in the maps on his website," Benishek said. "It makes you wonder if the president's omission of the entire U.P. from his maps is reflective of his views of us Yoopers?"
Benishek, a lifelong resident of the Upper Peninsula, goes on to say that he is not surprised by the omission, as he claims the President has ignored the wishes of the families of the Upper Peninsula with the Affordable Care Act.
"They have continually ignored us and others when they shoved this law through Congress on a partisan vote," said Benishek. "Even though President Obama chooses to ignore us, we are the ones suffering the consequences of his ill-conceived, poorly executed health care law."
