Sheriff Ted Schendel received the Consitution Defender Award today.
The Benzie County Sheriff received the award at the County Comissioner's meeting today.
Sheriff Schendel was awarded the honor for "upholding and believing strongly in the rights created by the U.S. Constitution."
This comes a few months after he found himself in a tough spot. He had to weigh his Oath of Office to uphold the constitution against the President's call for a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
Sheriff Schendel said he would not enforce the President's plan.
