President's proposed budget will pump money into Michigan projects

The Soo Locks will get an increase in funding under President Obama's proposed budget.

President Obama submitted his budget proposal to Congress today.

His proposed budget will pump $63-million into civil works projects here in Michigan.

$29 million of the budget will go towards management and restoration for the St. Mary's River and Soo locks.

The money is sed for dredging projects, as well as operation costs for the lock's hydropower plant and visitors center.

Also in the budget is nearly $3.6 million that would be used to monitor lake levels and water flow throughout the Great Lakes.
